About Us

Who We Are

Riverside Church is a fellowship of believers that preaches and teaches the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We strive to exemplify the Body of Christ within our community through praying, loving, giving, growing and going.

What We Believe

The Purpose of God

We affirm our belief in the one-eternal God, Creator and Lord of the world, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, who governs all things according to the purpose of his will. He has been calling out from the world a people for himself, and sending his people back into the world to be his servants and his witnesses, for the extension of his kingdom, the building up of Christ’s body, and the glory of his name.
We confess with shame that we have often denied our calling and failed in our mission, by becoming conformed to the world or by withdrawing from it. Yet we rejoice that even when borne by earthen vessels the gospel is still a precious treasure. To the task of making that treasure known in the power of the Holy Spirit we desire to dedicate ourselves anew.
ISAIAH. 40:28; MATTHEW. 28:19; EPHESIANS. 1:11

The Power of the Bible

We affirm the divine inspiration, truthfulness and authority of both Old and New Testament Scriptures in their entirety as the only written word of God, without error in all that it affirms, and the only infallible rule of faith and practice. We also affirm the power of God’s word to accomplish his purpose of salvation. The message of the Bible is addressed to all men and women. For God’s revelation in Christ and in Scripture is unchangeable. Through it the Holy Spirit still speaks today. He illumines the minds of God’s people in every culture to perceive its truth freshly through their own eyes and thus discloses to the whole Church ever more of the many-colored wisdom of God.

Our Core Values

We Believe

God is the Creator and Ruler of the universe. He eternally exists in three persons: the Father, the son, and the Holy Spirit. These three are co-equal, co-eternal and are one God. (Genesis 1:1,26,27; Psalm 90:2; Matthew 28:19; 1 Peter 1:2; 2 Corinthians 13:14)

We Believe

Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He is co-equal and co-eternal with the Father. Jesus was both fully God and fully human, and lived a sinless human life. Jesus offered himself as a ransom for many, the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all people shedding his blood and dying on a cross. After three days he arose from the dead to demonstrate His power over sin, death and the grave. He ascended to Heaven’s glory and will return again some day to earth to reign as King of Kings and Lord of Lords. (Matthew 1:22-23; Isaiah 9:6; John 1:1-5, 8:58, 14:10-30; Hebrews 4:14-15; 1 Corinthians 15:3-4; Romans 1:3-4; Acts 1:9-11; Philippians 2:5-11; 1 Timothy 6: 14-15; Titus 2:13)

We Believe

The Holy Spirit is co-equal and co-eternal with the Father and the Son of God. He is present in the world to convict people of their sin and to make them aware of their need for Jesus Christ. He also lives in every Christian with power for living, understanding for spiritual truths, and guidance in doing what is right. He gives every believer a spiritual gift when they are saved. As Christians, we seek to live under His control daily. (2 Corinthians 3:17; John 16: 7-13, 14:16-17; Acts 1:8, Ephesians 1:13, 5:18; Galatians 5:25)

We Believe

The Bible is God’s Word to us. The Bible is composed of 66 books, 39 in the old 27 in the new penned by over 40 different authors as moved by the Holy Spirit over a period of 1500 years. We believe it is the inerrant infallible word of God and it is the supreme source of truth for Christian beliefs and living.

(2 Timothy 1:13, 3:16; 2 Peter 1:20-21; Psalm 119:105, 160, 2:6; Proverbs 30:5)

WE Believe

Salvation is God’s free gift to us. There is nothing we can do to earn our salvation. All of our good works and righteousness before God is considered as filthy rags. Sin separates us from God and only by trusting in Jesus Christ as God’s offer of forgiveness can anyone be saved from sin and sin’s penalty. It is only when we turn from our self-ruled life, repent of our sin and call upon the name of Jesus, turning to him in faith, are we saved. Eternal life begins the moment a person receives Jesus Christ into his life by faith. (Romans 5:1, 6:23; Isaiah 64:6 Ephesians 2:9; John 14:6, 1:12; Titus 3:5; Galatians 3:26)

We Believe

That Christ left two sacraments for his Church to keep, baptism, and the Lord’s Supper. And that the scriptural qualifications for baptism, are repentance and faith, and that this is properly administered by immersion in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, and that baptism is a prerequisite for the Lord’s Supper.”

Each of these is both symbolic and highly significant because each symbolizes the Christian message of grace and salvation.

(Matthew 28:19; 1 Corinthians 11:23-25)
